Besides the basic skill of balance, foil stance and throttle control are the two most important skills to practice. If there's a choppy texture on the water then it's also very important to read the surface like surfers do. To learn to 'read water' focus on the surface while watching videos on electric hydrofoiling, downwind hydrofoiling and hydrofoil surfing. By watching videos you'll also become familiar with the classic variations of the foil stance. Practice this forward weighted foil surf stance by taking a few minutes to program it into your muscle memory. While you hold this stance practice using your trigger (pointer) finger in a slow controlled squeeze and release to simulate a smooth foiling experience. *It's important to always let off the throttle slowly.
